Catching Up

This is his morning face.  Also that sheet was $29.  Thanks, SmartPak!

I was standing around at Rolex talking to Hillary, Kristen and Karen, and kept saying "Oh yeah, I'm planning on writing a blog post about that..."  Bad blogger.  Here's a catch-up post:

- The Facebook interview went really well and was a lot of fun.  They ended up choosing a different candidate for the job they flew me out there for, but said they thought I was a good fit for the organization and started talking to me about a different job.  I declined that one, because it would have taken me away from the in-the-trenches technical side of my career and put me more on a UI sort of track - as hard as it was to say no to the super cool culture of Facebook and seeing L Williams all the time!

(I'd like to think that she showed my LinkedIn to the Facebook team that found me and convinced them to fly me out mostly just to meet her...she's just that devious.)

My grab-n-go salad from one of Facebook's many free restaurants.

- Team Cob Jockey is entered for Penny Oaks HT this weekend.  I finally decided to enter three hours before post-entries closed, with my second drink of the night in my left hand, the mouse in my right hand and my bank statement nowhere close to me.  We're going Starter.  I was on the fence about doing it, but it's our last chance to do an event for like six weeks and my trainer is on me about making showing "routine" for Connor, so c'est la vie.  Anyone else?

- Connor's Aunt Mary is now a CWD rep!  Or she will be, after she gets back from being flown to France for a three week saddle fitting course starting next week.  What a great opportunity for one of the best horsewomen in my life!  That girl always soaked up information like a sponge in our equine studies classes and has an eye for movement and conformation, as well as a magnetic personality, so she's going to be an amazing rep.  I see a CWD for Connor in the (very, very, very distant) future!

I think that's it.  What's new with you?

  2. Cant wait to see more adorable Connor jumping pictures! I hope you get video too :)

And so cool about CWD. Alanna rode in one not to long ago and raved about it. Pony desperately needs a new jump saddle so its nice to dream unless someone shows up with 5 grand for me to spend haha

    1. I hope so, but my family and friends are all busy this weekend so no promises! Yeah, it's dreaming for me too, but at least I can hope she comes to visit with a trunk full of demo saddles to play with now!

    1. I think so. It just wasn't the right career move unless they gave me the job they flew me out there for. No regrets!

  4. Sad about the job, although I am very pro UI track so that seems appealing to me ;) Everything works out for a reason!

    1. You and Jen from Wyvern Oaks too! I like being in the datacenter with servers and storage and VMware. Nothing fuels my career passion like standing in the datacenter and realizing I can almost feel the heartbeat of an entire county around me. Nerdy, but it's me!
