Back in the Saddle

He greeted me with a WHINNY last night!  How's that for a "Welcome home I haven't seen you in 12 days?!"

Missed this face.

I got on in Dressage tack, knowing my trainer had ridden him earlier that day, and thought I would just re-learn how to ride.  That was a good move.  I've forgotten how to ride.  Good thing we have a lesson on Thursday.

This is where the blog comes in handy - time to go back through my last few lesson posts and re-learn all the Dressagey nuances that got us here last month:

Just going to leave this here...over and over again...

Finally, I know I said I was going to do MidSouth, but I had to take a hard look at my finances after vacation, and I knew I just couldn't swing that entry fee + hotel + trailering + trainer fee this time around, so I backed out of that.  We're now rerouting to a local CT that weekend that should allow me to also fit in a USDF Dressage test too.

Time to get serious in Dressage tack, little buddy!

  1. How stinkin cute is he! I just backed out of a show too. Ries never whinnies to me. When I was sick for two weeks I went and saw him at one point and he was like "mom can you just let me out to see my friends and go away?"

    1. Awwww! I am always amazed when he whinnies to me, I basically only get to see him to ride him. Horses! Shows = money + time and I am in short supply of both right now, glad I'm not the only one.

  2. Ahh I love it when they whinny! I just got my first whinny a week ago but he hasn't whinnied since. I gave him so many cookies when he did it so I'm hoping he learns...

Too bad about the show (and that horses cost money, ugh) but yay USDF tests!

  3. C talks to me, but I think it's mostly because he wants treats. Horse showing is so expensive. Hope the CT is fun!

  7. Aww, pony whinnies - he missed you! Dressage is fun too! Do you know what brand Connor's halter is? I'm looking for a new halter for my horse but need one that is slightly smaller and narrower for a smaller head - maybe cob size! :)

    1. Unfortunately I don't, a friend of mine purchased it at Rolex despite not having any cob sized horses and then sold it to me new when I got Connor. If you find a good one, though, let me know! I would like to have a nice one for him too.
