Rolex and Upcoming California Trip

It was hard to drag myself out of bed early on Saturday morning to get to Rolex, mainly because I'd gotten home at 8:30pm the night before after spending the previous five nights in a hotel, but by gosh, I was not going to miss the chance to meet some of the bloggers I'd spent years getting to know online!

And I didn't get to meet some of the ones I wanted to meet.  Alanna, Tarra, Liz, I am SO bummed I didn't catch up with you guys!  Equally, I'm bummed I missed the Thursday night tacofest at Amy's campsite, which I hear was off the chain.  Stupid job.

The best dog ever couldn't keep her eyes open on the way home.

I made it for XC day though, and brought my partner in crime, my heart dog, the best dog ever.  Who was a serious trooper given the fact I learned at the end of the day she had a UTI.  Poor best dog ever.  Our vet confirmed over the phone that as long as she was drinking well and not in pain, we could wait til Monday morning to bring her in, but I still feel bad for not realizing something was wrong all day.

I did get to meet Aimee (FINALLY!  After so many years of reading her blog, (hers was one of the first I started reading in 2010ish, in the Izzy days)), and it was awesome to finally meet her in person. I also got to see Amanda and Hillary, both of whom I had met before and it was great to see them again.  Leah, I had never met before, but she makes you feel like you've known her forever the second you meet her.  And I also got to meet the Canadian contingent (Renate and friends), who were SO much fun to be around.  I wish, so much, that I had gotten to stay for dinner and more drinks.  Next time, you guys, next time.

(Also Karen, who I see pretty regularly, but is awesome and totally worth a mention!)
Thanks, Karen for the photo!

Mostly, though, I felt bad for being slow all day.  With three hours of sleep the night before thanks to the toxic combination of our Husky/Malamute mix Tucker and continuous thunderstorms, plus a week in hotels before that, I felt like I was reacting a few seconds slowly all day, especially while Leah and Aimee were shopping for me in the trade fair.  As much as I wanted to be fun and normal, I was just in a fog.

Fog or no fog, I do have Leah and Aimee to thank for two pairs of $20 FITS breeches that made their way home with me, so THANK YOU!  Also Aimee may or may not have a photo of my ass in purple unicorn breeches that should hit the internet at some point...hopefully soon...

Piles of bloggers in the head of the lake water complex!

Finally, speaking of blogger meetups, my next Silicon Valley work trip will be June 4 (landing around noon local time) through June 9 (leaving very early in the morning solely to get back for a horse show...priorities...).  I am definitely not missing out on seeing Olivia after missing her last time, but it'd be great to see others too!  Last year at this event I had all of Sunday afternoon and a couple of weeknight evenings free. I'm staying near the McLaren dealership on El Camino Real in Palo Alto (mmmmmm....McLarens....be still my heart...might be part of the reason I requested that hotel...).  Hit me up via email or Instagram DM if you're local and want to meet up!

  1. We had so much fun with you on Saturday! (And your heart dog, who stole the show 😍). Can't wait for Aimee to debut the breeches photo 😂 and those FITS breeches you ended up with were an amazing deal! Can't wait to see you rocking them on Connor.

    1. Ohhhh? They are routine, but not often. I usually spend 1 or 2 weeks a year out there.

    1. That would be awesome! You are always welcome to fly into Indy and stay with me, but I do live two hours away. I don't mind the trip vs the hassle of finding hotel down there during Rolex, but some people do. But it'd be free!

  7. I'm so sad I missed Rolex this year; it seems like everyone went. I'm looking forward to seeing you on your visit to CA this time though. I'll see if the other local bloggers can meet up as well.

    1. That would be awesome! There are so many I want to meet out there. Sunday will be the day I have the most time for sure, then I'm guessing Monday and Wednesday will have some evening time free. Haven't gotten a schedule yet though.

    2. I already have a bunch of fellow blogger responding. I'm working on organizing a meetup/trail ride to the winery combination on Sunday. I think it's gonna be pretty cool.

    1. It was awesome to meet you too! Bitsy has started antibiotics for the UTI. The vet also scared the crap out of me by saying her urine looked diabetic, but a blood test showed she isn't. Scary half hour though. We go back in two weeks to confirm that with more bloodwork.
