New Threads: SmartPak Ultimate AdjustaNeck Turnout Sheet

I've been overall thrilled with my SmartPak Ultimate sheet over the five years and one month I've had it.  It's proven to be nearly indestructible, I've never had the fabric rip.  The one time I did need a new one (tail flap got torn off), the exchange process was easy.  It's such great peace of mind knowing that I paid $179 for it, and that $179 purchase will last me 10 years no matter what.

But just recently I've been less and less crazy about the way the sheet fits Connor.  It's okay, and it doesn't rub, but it gaps around the neck no matter what I do.  I know it fit better than this when I bought it, because I have the pictures to prove it, but it doesn't fit well now.

So when I saw #1) SmartPak now has the same sheet in an adjustable-neck version, and #2) It was on sale for $110 (after my USEF discount + a 20% blanket discount), I pulled the trigger.

The adjustable neck was always one of my favorite features of Schneider's blankets, which fit Connor great

Same sheet, same size (69"), but with that one change:

Much better fit!
The better fit in the chest helps it fit better everywhere else too.

Perfection
I continue to use it with the Rambo blanket liners, which work great.  I'm not sure I could ever go back to having multiple full blankets at this point, it's so much easier to deal with the liners.  Anyone else make any Black Friday blanket purchases?

"...why."

  3. I have the same one! I don't love the neck, it's not quite long enough when it's raining (I'd prefer a removable, full length hood), but for the price I can live with it.

  4. Would be incredibly interested in a post detailing the liner technique (never considered it tbh) - how you change them, at what temperatures kind of thing.. I would think it’s more work to change than separate blankets?

  5. I wish we could get those blankets in Canada. But Smartpak doesn't ship up here.

I also am trying to stick with blankets that work with liners.

  6. i'm glad to hear the exchange for those is pretty simple... I bought one a few years ago (so still under the 10 yr mark) and it leaks like a sieve. I need to pull the trigger on exchanging it but haven't yet! The adjustable neck looks so handy though!

    1. It's very easy. You can either send yours in and then once they receive it they ship the new one, or they can send the new one immediately with a hold for the amount on your CC that gets refunded after they receive your return. The hardest part is you have to get it REALLY clean before you send the old one in. Power washing it doesn't cut it, it must be washed (ask me how I know!)

  7. Huge difference with the adjustable neck! Nice to hear the quality is there on the smartpak blankets. They look really nice, but I haven't bought any yet.

  8. Just wanted to say thanks for the sale tip! I used a gift card I had & got the thing for $100, since Echo decided to eat the butt of Solo's old sheet (which I did tape back together, but will now be a backup). It fits him perfectly, I didn't even have to adjust the neck, but I have no doubt that I will if Echo ever uses it! You are an excellent shopping guide, LOL.
