A 30 minute walk-trot ride should not necessitate 90 minutes of standing around waiting for Connor to dry off to the point that I can put his blanket back on him, yet I've done that twice in the last three days. I think we're far enough into the winter season to judge that it's going to be a warm one again - meteorologists are saying this week that by this point in the season, it's been so warm for so long that the ground probably won't even freeze here this winter. As much as I love his deep red, copper-colored winter coat, it's so thick that it's holding us back in our training, and I'm planning on hitting it hard in January. It's time for it to go. FULL CLIP TIME, READY, GO!

You aren't going to regret this - promise! It is going to make your life so much easier and Connor is going to be so much more comfortable during your rides. Post pictures! I'm sure you're going to have quite the pile of hair. ;)
If I were you I'd start with a trace clip and go from there. You can always take hair off, you can't put it back on!
Stanthehorse, I actually gave him a trace clip a month ago, and he did fine with one all last winter. I'm with you, I'm a clipping/blanketing minimalist, but I've recognized that it's really holding me back, plus living 45 minutes from the barn, it's keeping me out quite late on work nights. It's gotta go!
I cant imagine not doing a full clip! Haha. You gave a trace a go and I think it is totally fair to take more off - the standing and waiting to dry isnt fun for either of you!
Ah, I thought he just had an apron clip.
