It's amazing what a long phone call with Connor's breeder can do to rejuvenate my desire to wake up tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 6:30am and head out into the 20 degree March weather to feed and turn out fifteen horses and clean fifteen stalls so that I can keep on keeping on with my little buddy.  What an awesome friend, mentor and "other mother" to have in my life!  I tried to find a photo of the two of us, but didn't find anything good, so instead enjoy these photos of me showing Connor in-hand for his breeder when he was aged five years and three months.  After the rings were empty at the end of this show, I rode him so his breeder could tape a sales video, and fell in love, but never thought he could be mine.  Until three months later, and the rest is history.

Okay, same show but this isn't Connor. This is the baby I drove two hours to help foal and stayed overnight with as she never figured out how to nurse, the night before my wedding reception.  The look on my boss's face as I walked into his office at 8am wearing yesterday's clothes and announced "I just drove into town from Spencer, I was up all night foaling a baby pony, I'm going home to change, I'll be back in an hour," was priceless.  I think his exact words were "You couldn't make that up.  Go."  She ended up doing just fine and is turning into a REALLY nice Cob.  Totally worth it.

That neck looks totally different now.

Fun fact: That's Austen of Guinness on Tap's husband on the right.  He's damn good at showing ponies in hand.

Lazy, gangly, young Connor.

  1. He is so gorgeous! I love the flaxen mane and tail.

  2. What a cute foal! Love all of the pictures!

  3. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know the pony is cute, but look at that beardless man candy! ;) Is it summer yet?!

  4. How could you not fall in love with that lovely pony! And what...Austen's hubby showed in hand?!
