2013 Clip #2: Full Clip

I am a commitment-phobe no longer!  Connor has finally lost all of his hair (except his legs and head, because thank you Hillary. :-) )

How d'ya like them (d)apples?

And check out those dapples!  I didn't even know those were hidden under there.

I did as much as I could with my clippers until my trainer got there to show me how to use her massive Osters.  This is precisely how far my clippers got.   Totally not worth it after using the Osters.

And we also tried on his new 200g blanket liner (not that we need it, since it's going to be 70 degrees in Oz today - hoping I don't get blown away while cleaning stalls.  Also, that's two completely reasonable Wizard of Oz references in one post.)

Perfect fit.

Good pony.

Time to go quarter-sheet shopping!

I know it's expensive, but my Rambo quarter sheet is seriously the best thing. It doesn't move while riding (even during gallops!) and it acts as a mini-cooler pulling any sweat off immediately (Pig is always 100% dry and warm under it). It's the best one I've ever seen!

I do love Rambo everything, but I'd really like a wool one. I'm going to shop around and see.

Haha, notice how this photo is taken far away? ;-) Thanks!

LOL. 200g blanket liner.

That's like the weight of Mitch's whole blanket.

Nice clip job!

Haha, I know. My barn is full of chronic over-blanketers (within reason), and when you can't beat em... Besides, he's hairless now!

OMG the dapples are adorable! I'm thinking that if Katai and I make as much progress this winter as I think we will she will probably need a clip too and it would be my first time clipping a horse. Seeing this is encouraging!!

Thank you, I was surprised to discover them!

Adorable!!!

I'm glad! I've only done trace clips before but this was so much easier to do, and will be easier to maintain too. Just have to make sure you have the right blankets and you're good to go.

I only clip legs if I'm showing. It's a ton of detail work, even the good horses fuss, and I like them to have the insulation.

Well... I did clip Cuna's legs last winter, but that's because he paddles so bad and sprays himself with sand and I didn't want any excess rubs from it.

And yeah, big clippers make a difference. I do hate osters, but they're better than nothing.

Lookin good!

I do remember that. You'd have to pay me to cut off Connor's feathers, winter or spring, whether it was worth it or not. With Cuna, definitely necessary though, he is quite the princess with leg wraps and stuff.

Yes, you've given me Lister lust...

Thank you! Any favorites?
