Sunshine and Dapples

We had a few beautiful "spring preview" days before it got cold again.  He's back in his mediumweight blanket, which I had hoped I wouldn't need again!  But before that, he got to go naked for a couple of days, during the day only, and I got to enjoy some dapples!

He always nickers when he sees me, no matter where he is and no matter where I am, and will sometimes walk over to the parking lot side of his paddock too.  Not to anthropomorphize that, but he's got to be expressing some sort of happiness at seeing me, right?

  2. You lucky lady!

I only get nickers if I have a treat clearly visible.

  3. Yup, definitely happy to see you. Sometimes I get an ear flick, but I'm always interrupting the afternoon nap.

  6. Of course he's happy to see you. I do think horses have feelings about the people around them.

  8. I don't think you're anthropomorphizing the nickers at all. My boy Copper rarely nickers, and sometimes doesn't bother to even look at me when I go to fetch him from the paddock. But if I've been away for a long time, he will wicker and come up to me! I know that's his way of saying that it's good to see me again. Horses definitely greet us if you ask me. :)
