Blahs for Horse and Rider Both

We're at that point in the year.

The grass is totally, utterly brown.

Connor's paddock is totally, utterly mud.

I'm so tired of gloves, and so accustomed to the cold, that if I won't get frostbite in 20 minutes, I look at them and think, "...eh.  I don't really need those, do I?"

We're all tired of blankets, especially since the weather has begun wildly swinging from 4 degrees to 70 degrees in a matter of days.  It's hard on everyone.

Connor and I had a lesson last night, and he echoed my feelings. He was good in the bridle, and supple, but just...blah.  We hacked on Saturday in the warm sunshine and then jumped on Sunday, so I have to imagine going back to Dressage in the indoor was a bit of an existential crisis for him: "Why am I here?  Why am I doing this?"

I get the coolest pictures from above the crossties.

The good news is, it's going to be in the 50's for the next week, which means spring is slowly coming.  We're just a couple of weeks away from Daylight Savings Time, which means lessons in the outdoor, and we're a couple of months away from being able to show again, which gives us all purpose.  Just a little bit longer...

  3. Ugh. Yes. I'm playing this ridiculous game of musical blankets and I'm SO over it. Spring can come at any time now.
