The Rest of 2016

We're at that point in the year for our part of the country where you can pretty much see the rest of your season.  Showing starts to get uncomfortable around mid-October, and by the end of October we are d-o-n-e until April.

(Unless indoor shows are your jam, and Connor has proven that indoor shows are not his jam, so I'm not sure I'll waste the money attempt that again this winter.)

Connor being anything but majestic at Majestic Farms.

So what's on our schedule?  Personally, my goals for this season have totally changed.  My original plan was to get him XC schooling, then take him to Leg Up schooling HT the first week of August, and depending on how that went, hit a rated event in September.

But...

I am having so much fun doing Dressage with him that I can't imagine spending money to enter anything but Dressage right now.  I literally have at least one moment in every lesson lately where something REALLY cool happens and I get this big grin on my face and squeal something stupid like "OH MY GOSH I HAVE BUTTONS!!!"

So the plan right now is:
Showtime!

7/24: IDS Schooling show (1-2 and 1-3)
That will be the first time doing 1-3 for us, and I could not be less concerned.  He loves those shallow canter loops.  I'll have done all three tests in a schooling show by then, which should give me a good idea of what we should enter at...

8/20-8/21: Indy Dressage Festival
Our first rated show!

And then we should be in really good shape for...

9/17-9/18: Harmony in the Park
Our second rated show!

All of those are "home shows" at the Hoosier Horse Park 20 minutes from my house, so they should be a really good, relaxed opportunity for us to figure out what a rated judge thinks of us.
