Pressure Washing My Trailer

I started pressure washing my trailer yesterday in the hopes I could make it look slightly more attractive to potential buyers.  Once I saw how many of the things I thought were permanently attached were actually dirt, I was embarrassed that I haven't done this sooner:

Yeah...

Especially the roof:

I'm so embarrassed.

It looks so good after the pressure washing that I'm considering paying for the needed repairs myself and selling it for what it's actually worth.  You know, Love It or List It style, where they put $100,000 into a house worth $300,000 and sell it for $425,000.

Pressure washing: so rewarding, but so time consuming.  Sort of like body clipping.

There's a couple coming to look at it on Friday.  If they don't want it, I'll probably book the appointment to fix it up myself sometime in April.  Worst comes to worst, Connor has to ride in it a couple more months.

Even the grey spots came off!

  1. I bet it sells quick - looks just like ours and we love it. Lucky for me Ffergie is a bit taller than the normal Welsh Cob.

  3. SOOOOO satisfying! I never did mine at the end of the season last year and it is in sore need of a spa day! Make sure you re-wax the fiberglass roof after you pressure wash, though! It can blast the protective coating right off.

    1. Yeah...the fiberglass roof is unfortunately pretty far oxidized at this point. I believe the gelcoat is totally gone. So I will likely sand it and take a coat of marine paint to it. Totally appreciate you bringing that up though, pressure washing is rough on the roof and the decals.

    2. Yeah the marine paint is an excellent idea! My husband mentioned that to me the last time we did our trailer and I didn't even consider needing to maintain it until he said something!

    3. Wellllll since I wrote that comment I pressure washed it to discover what I thought was bad oxidation was lichens! It's actually not too far gone. So it will be getting waxed instead of painting as you originally suggested.

  6. I did mine towards the end of the summer last year and had the same reaction. "Those aren't permanent spots?!"

  8. My trailer isn't even that old and I still desperately need to do this. 😳

  9. We did the same thing with our trailer when we sold it. It was scary just how much dirt came off. This reminds me that I really need to actually wash our current trailer once in a while.

  10. I finally acid washed our trailer after 7 years of ownership and it basically looked like new again and I felt SUPER dumb for not doing it sooner.... hahaha. We've power washed it a few times but nothing like an acid wash to shine up that aluminum!

  11. Two words: Truck Wash. I'm about to take mine next week and have the truck wash do the inside and outside as well as my truck. Way easier, way faster.

    1. Yeah, I'll be able to do that in the future, but I literally had an 8th of an inch of lichens covering the fiberglass roof. That wasn't coming off in the truck wash!
