Not Quite WW: OH LAWD SHE COMIN'

I've seen a lot of late-stages-of-pregnancy broodmares over the years. Big ones, small ones, and every size in between. But Lisa's broodmare North Star Rebecca is far and away the biggest pregnant broodmare I've ever seen! She looks like a cartoon character. I was laughing so hard when I saw her, I went up to her and rubbed her face and apologized.

You're probably thinking, this isn't so bad

But

Then you see her from this angl 😳

Nick said the previous photo looked like someone took a picture of a hippo and photoshopped a horse head and neck onto it 😂

I'm just sayin'...there's a resemblance here

In all honesty, this is a VERY nice mare with the absolute biggest eyes I've ever seen on a horse. And that just adds to my feeling that she looks like a cartoon character come to life.

Her belly cannot be more than 18" from the ground right now, if that

Her due date was yesterday, let's hope she releases this prisoner soon, for her sake if nothing else!

Update: While I was sleeping and after this post was drafted, Rebecca foaled a big beautiful baby girl! I think she's going to be named Castleberrys Rey, after Rey Skywalker, since she was born on the holiday. May the fourth be with you!

  1. LORD! Rebecca was huge! Poor girl! Hopefully she had an easy delivery. Hard to tell, but I trust you when you say it is a "big" filly. I do love foaling season!! Cannot wait to see them all frolicking together.

    1. She probably looks normal sized if you're used to horse babies but she's pretty big for a pony baby!

    1. She really is. Not that she's not sporty, but I can totally see her ending up in a Welsh home cleaning up in the in-hand classes, she just looks like something that they would pin well.

  7. OMG. If she waited much longer, that belly would have definitely touched the ground!
