Sunday Hack

It was a balmy 50 degrees on Sunday, so I decided to take Connor out on a hack.  Hacks are a lot less...adventurous...now that all the corn has been harvested.  Connor looked like this for most of the ride:

On the buckle, ears turned to avoid the head-on wind.

I did a little bit of work with him on the hack, moving his shoulders and paying attention to my own alignment, but for the most part, this adult amateur needs to take advantage of the one daylight ride she gets per week in the winter for mental health time.  I just wanted Connor to enjoy himself.

We jumped Thursday, hacked Sunday and will have a Dressage ride Tuesday before he gets a few days off while I visit family over Thanksgiving.  I hope everyone else was able to get out and enjoy the (relatively) nice weather this weekend!

I love how grumpy ponies get about wind! He's such a cutie.

Haha, I was wondering why he wasn't more enthusiastic about his hack, until I realized the wind was blowing straight in his ears if he pricked them. Grumpy but smart.

missing the hacking weather!

Pig is spooky in the wind. I wonder if it's because he can't hear as well with the wind whipping in there. If I put on a fly bonnet when it's windy, he's much happier and calmer.
