Five Things on Your Christmas List

My turn to start something!  What are five things on your Christmas list?

My Christmas list is just a running Amazon-based reminder for myself of things I need to buy throughout the year, that my family and relatives then look at during the holidays.  Every year I have to remind myself to remove or buy things like "gallon bucket of lube for sheath cleaning" and "elbow length rubber gloves" before my relatives see it.  Horse problems...

1. Lister Star Clippers
I can already see the little dude's clip growing out at a depressingly rapid rate, and there is no way I am borrowing my trainer's Oster Clipmasters again - they were great, but I am terrified of killing them and having to buy her new ones.  If I am to be full-clipping my Yak three times a year for the next fifteen years, I may as well buy my own - in this case, the Sprinkler Bandits-recommended Listers that are only $20 more than the Osters.  This is more of an "If I get gift cards, I'm buying these in January" sort of deal.

2. Exercise Rug
He's naked, and riding with a cooler is awkward.

3. Majyk Equipe Boots (front and hind)
Still don't have hind XC boots...bad Jen.  These are the best, as far as I can tell, they're cheap enough to own multiple pairs of (eventually...) and have been approved by Amy at Slow and Steady Smiler Wins the Race.  More blogger recommendations!

4. Saddle pads, saddle pads, saddle pads
Sometime in the last year I realized that everyone else seems to have massive saddle pad collections, but they're the last thing I think to buy - so I am still rocking the green State Line Tack pad I got in 6th grade and that's pretty much it.  Saddle pads are now my "How do I get to $75 for free shipping at Smartpak..." go-to item.

5. Irideon Issential Riding Tights - Kids Large
I'm in these for every ride except clinics and shows.  My four pairs of hand-me-down Issentials from Mary are finally starting to die (after 3-7 rides a week on all but the coldest days between two people for the last five years - can you say "wears like iron"!?)  and the kids size of these are $20 cheaper than the adult size.  Go short people!

    1. ;-) There's a surprising amount of crossover between women's XS and kids L or XL in most brands. Saves me a lot of money on clothes and shoes!

  2. I will share my Christmas wish list this weekend! You can never have too many saddle pads.

    1. I am beginning to see that. I was okay with throwing mine in the barn pile and taking whatever I needed, but then, why am I sharing my old saddle pads with someone else's used saddle pads?

  3. A girl I rode with in high school is now a trainer and is sponsored by Majyke Equipe and really likes them. I haven't tried them, but I trust her opinion.

  4. Yep, I just looked at Rosemary's clip and noticed it had really grown out. These Cobs are incredible hair growing monsters :/
Love the saddle pad thing, we do that too. Even have some still in the plastic.

    1. That's crazy. I have a total of I think three. That one from grade school, the Dressage pad Heidi gave me, and a hand-me-down when someone shrunk their large pad in the wash on accident.

  5. I am super excited I just got Pony Oster clippers (mainly because I thought they were prettier than the Lister ones haha) and I totally agree on the saddle pads. I am obsessed with them and always have to talk myself out of buying them.

Also... SUPER jealous you can shop in the kids clothing! Normal people sizes mostly dont even fit me!

  6. Ooh! I can't wait to participate. I'll have to think on Xmas wish list!

Clippers are an awesome thing to have. Must say I love my andis. They are the bomb.

I have been eying the riders quarter sheet but broke down and bought a BoT when Tack of the day did the Black Friday deal :O

Also dover has select pads 70% off... Just saying. Like between $9 and 15 I think.

I think this post would be super helpful to someone if you're participating in the blogger gift exchange :)

    1. Also wanted to add that I saw the majyk XC boots in person and can't wait to buy a pair for next season. The mediums actually fit houston width wise which was nuts - they really do fit a variety apparently. But for him I want large just to make sure everything is covered. They look well worth the money and when on the strike plate conforms to the leg. Very very cool!

    2. Except all of those things are over $20! Haha. I saw the Dover pads a day too late, I like that squared off (not swallow-tail) Dressage pad. Jealous on BoT sheet, that would be my preference if I had money! I'm glad to know that about the Majyk boots. I am a little worried about the medium being short enough, but I'm glad it will at least fit his bone.

    3. Yes but if we know you want a quarter sheet or a saddle pad i am pretty sure they can be found - definitely the pad! Someone could even make a quarter sheet if they were crafty! ;)

  7. I just bought those clippers and I loooove them! However if you use the recommended setting in the guide (1 1/2 turns) it cuts -way- too short. I would go with 2-3 turns as per recommended by my trainer who has the same clippers.

    1. Good call, thanks for the tip! I have only ever used the adjustable height clippers before (which I know are not meant for body clipping).

  9. I want those boots. Maybe next year. :-)

    1. Indeed. :) They are reasonably priced as boots go, but reasonable is relative when you're digging out of debt like we are.

  10. I love those riding tights. At five feet tall, I should check out the kids large. Saving twenty bucks would be totally worth it!

    1. You totally should, they're $44.95 from Adams. I'm five feet tall too! There is a kids XL too I believe, and I haven't tried either on but I'm in the kids L territory from the size chart. If you get some before me let me know how they work for you!

  11. I only have three everyday saddle pads, and two of them are hand-me-downs! (I have 3 show pads but they are only worn very occasionally.) So I'm with you. I just can't stomach the idea of doing a load of laundry that's entirely saddle pads so I am careful to wash my three frequently. They're showing their age, though, so it's getting to be the time to replace them...

  12. Thanks for the inspiration, I made my blog post about my wish list as well! http://weanieeventer.blogspot.com/ Although I will say I can't believe you don't have more saddle pads! I have a billion but you'll notice I still have two on my list!

  13. I have a Rambo Newmarket quarter sheet. The fleece is heavy enough that it doesn't move when you're doing lots of cantering, even without a tail strap. There's an offical one and an unmarket one on Ebay right now for less.
